SITE INTRODUCTION.
/ THE WHITE BAY POWER STATION.
The White Bay Power Station is located at the junction of Victoria Road and Roberts Street, 3 kilometers from Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was established in 1912 and is the oldest old-fashioned coal-fired power station in existence. As a visible scene on the Anzac Bridge, WBPS is known for its iconic chimney and pressurized surface texture.
Through smoky formaldehyde and stunning vertical facades, the most magnificent view of the entire building shows the feeling of a second industrial reassessment. According to WBPS, bare brick and rusty steel are the most common materials. This unique appearance and striking chimney has become an irreplaceable landmark.
In the 20th century, due to the expansion of the Sydney tram and rail network, the demand for electricity increased rapidly, which was the original reason for the existence of WBPS. In the process of tram expansion, the power resources range from horses, steam, cables and finally to electric traction. As the streets of the Sydney rail network are much more complex than other cities, and the slopes of the streets are also greater, a lot of electricity is required. WBPS has consistently and successfully performed its duties.
Through the site analysis of White Bay Power Station and investigateion of the CMP, a recurring theme discovered was that there’s a deep rooted web of complexities of community which incloud residents, retailers and even small factories. As a result, this has left an absence of culture and communication activity through this dense and complex regional space, in one of the most important areas of Australian history.

The composition of Rozelle is diversified. Most of the residents in this area are born in Australia, except for a small percentage of residents in other places of birth (such as the UK and New Zealand).
Rozelle's population pyramid is well-distributed, and the sex ratio is relatively balanced. The age is mainly concentrated in the youth and middle-aged, and there are also a large number of children between the ages of 0 and 14, which means that Rozelle is a vibrant area with a high population activity rate and a developed economic production and consumption level.
Based on a healthy population pyramid, Rozelle currently belongs to a high-income community with an average of $ 1,400 per person per week (New South Wales average $664).
SITE ANALYSIS.
WBPS ceased service on Christmas Day 1983. In 1990, ten years after removing most of the machinery and equipment from the pollution, the former Sydney Harbour Terminal Authority bought the land and began to protect it since then. Inaccessible to the public.
After the relocation of shipping and heavy industries, the public's awareness of the lack of public facilities and vegetation in the area has increased significantly. They are also anxious about overdevelopment, insufficient public space, and deteriorating traffic conditions.
For this reason, they have filed a lawsuit between the Land and Environment Court of New South Wales and the Lechhart Parliament on the legal proportion of public space, hoping that the environment in this area can be improved.
